Credit Card Debt Relief and Consolidation Loans

If you are looking for credit card debt relief, you might want to consider getting a consolidation loan to help you to reduce or eliminate your credit card debt and get you back on the right track financially. The problem is what type of loan can you get with your income and credit rating and where can you actually get a loan or a consolidation loan that will meet your needs and help you to pay off your credit card debt?

One thing that you should know is that it’s impossible to “borrow your way out of debt”. So, if you get a consolidation loan, the best thing you can do is hope to get a super-low interest rate and payments which you can comfortably afford. Remember that you will be able to get your credit card companies to stop harassing you and that feels really, really good, but you will still have the consolidation loan.

One of the big, common problems that people have is that they will get a debt consolidation loan to get credit card debt relief and pay off their credit cards, but they pay off some cards and keep the balance on others. If you are going to use any type of loan to pay off your debt, then you need to consider two things:

  • How much money can you get on your loan and how much money do you owe to your creditors?
  • How much is your interest rate going to be and what will your payments be?

If you cannot get enough money on a consolidation loan to have total credit card debt relief, then you should not get a loan. Period. One of the ways that you can help yourself to eliminate your credit card debts successfully is to consider settling your debts. Rather than just paying them off, call your creditors and negotiate your balances to an amount that you will be able to afford and have your creditors send you an agreement in writing before you pay anything. This will help you to spread your loan dollars further and actually get rid of your credit card debt for good.

You also need to consider if you are willing to use the equity in your home, your biggest asset to obtain credit card debt relief. Many times, you can find other ways to get yourself out of credit card debt without having to use your most valuable asset, so think about it before you go ahead and do this. You might find that you do better if you go ahead and negotiate your debt down to a manageable level and set up payment plans that you can live with. This way, when you pay off your bills, you are really paying off your bills and will truly and finally be free.

When you are deep in credit card debt and looking for a way to get relief, one of the best things you can do is avoid the consolidation loan, save the equity in your home, and talk to your creditors to set up a payment agreement that you can both live with, and actually pay off in a reasonable amount of time. You won’t have to worry that your only asset is tied up and you will be able to free yourself from your credit card debt forever.
